Beyond the 8-Ball is the brain-child of long-time L.A. resident, show-biz executive, and writer, Bill Swadley. Bill has spent the past 30 years working in virtually every aspect of the entertainment industry from actor to production grunt to writer to corporate exec. In college he initially majored in psychology because he felt he had an innate ability to “peg” people. After much serious consideration, however, he decided that the traditional route of the psychologist wasn’t really for him, so he earned his degree in English and entered the industry of entertainment.

Throughout his long career, Bill has managed to experience and observe first-hand how the business operates both functionally and dis-functionally. At the same time, having never lost his interest in what makes people tick, Bill also has developed a deep under-standing of the nature of success on an individual basis. As a result, for the past 15 years or so, Bill has used this knowledge to advise and counsel friends and colleagues, not only in how things work in Hollywood (or don’t), but what sets the successful individual apart from those who seem endlessly “aspiring.”

The idea of putting all his knowledge and experience together and working with a group of artists intent on finding their way to success led him to develop the Beyond the 8-Ball program. In addition to conducting workshops and living his corporate double-life, Bill is writing a book about success based on the Beyond the 8-Ball philosophy. Bill is also co-founder of the non-profit theatre company, TrapDoor Ensemble.
